The purpose of these reviews is to inform other customers about their experiences with specific products. When writing a review, our customers must adhere to a number of rules, which are listed in the house rules.
Only customers who have ordered a specific product from Gomibo can post a review about it. Customers are encouraged to share their personal experiences with the product, including positive and negative aspects. Customers receive an email invitation to write a review four weeks after placing an order, so that they have had time to extensively test their product. Both invitation-based and self-initiated reviews are posted. We never ask customers to post a review for compensation. However, we do host a raffle for discount vouchers with shopping credit among customers who post a product review on our website. The review content has no impact on the voucher raffle. Our product reviews indicate if a discount voucher could be won by posting the review.
The reviews can be created via the personal order status page or via the customer account. This requires specific login details known only to the customer and Gomibo. Each review is also checked manually. Reviews that do not have any text are automatically approved, but we always check the written reviews. All reviews that comply with the house rules are posted.
When customers want to write a product review, we ask them several questions. First, customers can indicate if they recommend the product or not. Next, customers can rate our products on a scale of one to five stars on certain features. These features are determined by us and vary per product group. For example, for phones we ask about the camera, screen, speed, battery life, and price-quality, and for headphones we ask about price-quality, design, sound quality, wearing comfort, and construction quality. The smileys filled in by customers when posting a review are converted to a rating. Based on these answers, the average review score is calculated. Customers can post the review after answering these questions, but can also choose to expand the description of their experience even further. For example, they are asked about the positive and negative aspects of the product and a further explanation of the experience, which can be described in a text box. As a result, the rating is an average of up to five stars of all reviews. This average star rating provides quick and useful feedback for other potential customers.
Since only customers who have ordered something from Gomibo can post a review, possible fraud has already been limited. This guarantees that the reviews come from users with direct experience with the product in question. If it turns out that a customer has been the victim of a form of fraud, we will immediately take appropriate action.
Our products always feature the review score and the number of reviews. In addition to the overall review score, the average review score is shown for different features, depending on the product group. The reviews are sorted by default according to ‘Most helpful’. With this sorting, the reviews with the most thumbs up, minus thumbs down, are at the top. Customers can also sort by ‘Latest’, which lists the reviews on chronological order.
